*Vegetable-tanned leather is produced by artisans using ancient tanning recipes and modern technology. The tradition itself dates back to the Renaissance, and is a natural and environmentally friendly process. Vegetable-tanned leather doesn’t loose its versatility and luster with age. It is also completely unique. Once dyed, one piece of vegetable-tanned leather never looks exactly the same as another.
The technique uses natural tannins extracted from plants, mainly chestnut, oak or Argentinean quebracho tree, to dye the leather. The key to vegetable leather tanning process is time. It takes about 40 days to transform raw hides into unique, durable, and versatile vegetable-tanned leather.
Care instructions: the best way to clean such leather is to use a dry wool cloth.
**The special compound used to protect from moisture is a unique formula based on beeswax, and includes all natural components.
***Saddle stitch - a method of binding leather with a durable waxed thread from both sides of the sections of a leather at the same time with two needles (If one strand becomes damaged, the other will hold this section of leather).
